Hi Good Morning Weilian,
We all really enjoyed yesterday night Red cross charity concert.
Especially your performances. We too like the STRIKEFORCE performance.
First time get to watch their performance, really very unique and powerful.
Ya! The students there very sporting and friendly,give us very good impression about them.
Yesterday night came home ,actually wanted to update about the performance but mind can’t do anything just kept listening to your 2nd new song (had recorded in my handphone.Like it so much,can really melt our heart).
Let me roughly share with everyone about yesterday NTU charity concert.(pls bare with me for any grammer mistake made).
The Emcee quite cute le (esp the guy). The show started with Chinese drum, Wushu, Choir ,Piano and Jazz & Blues followed by the Strikeforce.
After the Strikeforce performance, they started to present the appreciation award to the representative of the performance.Wa! got shock le,why Weilian have not performed they started to present appreciation ward, we kept wondering don’t tell us it is the end of the
Show!. Ha!ha!ha be patient,later they welcomed Weilian as a special guest. Telling us about his music award,song name “Xia Ren Wu De Xin Sheng by Indonesia Radio’s Cakrawala 98.3. They congratulated him.The Emcee mentioned that Weilian will be singing new song from his 3rd Album. Weilian mentioned the name of the song he is going to sing is not finialized yet. Before Weilian started to sing, his guitar No sound. He kept soft talk to his guitar and also create a lot of jokes. There was a lot of laughter going on.Weilian the second new song,a bit sad but liked it very much.
The lady Emcee also praised: “very nice song”. They asked Weilian to tell us more about his coming new album and also when the estimated date to be out. Weilian mentioned that most of the songs composed by him and are more of sentimental type. For the launching of the date, Weilian cute le, mentioned definitively this year but date he really don’t know and no idea. We can check with his music company- Warner. He is now awaiting for the day to go oversea to shoot MV.He mentioned long time he have not performed for charity show,he was happy to be in NTU to perform for the Red Cross charity concert.
Later there was appreciation ward for Weilian, so nice of them they also presented him with a bouqet of flowers. Some of us,ha! going to end!.Later heard audience requesting for Encore.The Emcee mentioned one song not enough, can perform one more song.Weilian mentioned if audience don’t mind, he will sing his previous album song “I Love You”. Welian received loud applause from audience. Weilian cute le, he mentioned give
him one hour to prepare, again it created a lot of laugher. He said again: “still early ma! Why laugh?. Ha!ha! he created another laughter again, is real fun.
Overall we really enjoyed the Charity concert,everyone go home happily.

Heard from auntieiris you blogged I quickly use mobile to check. I now almost 7pm resting after whole day in disneyland waiting for my dinner. Its great to know that everyone enjoyed your performance. Too bad I will only be able to listen your new song when I am back next week.

Today I really enjoyed myself too feel like I am a kid myself. I went for space mountain queue an hour made friends with 2 kids and an old lady. We went in for the ride a scary one and I screamed my hearts out then finally when check my photo my hair are all over my face when the tram we ride drop down from top. Regret not tying my hair.

Now I am waiting for 930pm fireworks heards its very nice.

I enjoyed last evening's concert very much, especially the last 2 items - your singing and the Strikeforce's exuberant performance won the loudest applause from the audience.

It was really wonderful to hear another new composition of yours, your voice was so touching and yes, the sound system at NTU was great.

i didn't detect any difference in your voice altho' you said that you're having a cold. But do take care and not strain your throat with too much 'heaty' food. We don't want you to lose your voice hor!

I'm so happy to hear you sang another new song last night and it was well received. I hope got photos for us to see. Heng that you only lost a bit of voice after the performance, but still...hope you never lose even a bit of voice, before or after performance. I don't suppose the song you sang last night will be uploaded?? (I wish!) Now I wait long long to hear about news on the MV for your new album.

Yo Wei Lian,

you too funny guy leh...first the fireworks and double fireworks comments about the guitar plug, then the XXXX name of your song, finally the last min impromtu performance of "I love you". Yeah, the NTU students were very sporty wor...you sing the new song, they behind you doing the swinging hands left-to-right altogether. Also the audience who attended were very sporty, and indeed next to Strikeforce (very strong performance that I do look forward for this year NDP as they will be participating as well), yours was the loudest. hehe. The hosts were quite cute as well.

About the new song hor, got feel...except a sentence or two of the lyrics can be better. Nice attempt and it would be very nice if it is of acoustic nature in the recording. Personally I like the interlude of 'di da di da la etc' part (as it does sound like playing an instrument admist quietness) and the part you biao gao yin at the '像个小孩他并不听话'.

The NTU Auditorium (a place where students attend their graduation ceremony) sound system amplifies any single voice (even slight laughters), and despite you said having a slight cold didn't really affect your vocals. Plus your guitar works wonder. haha! Sitting in the center is like absorbing the best shots of you and angle of music. hoho :P

I realised that 易家扬 is a veteran Taiwanese lyricist (should be the same person you mentioned that wrote your 2nd new song released live in NTU). And he wrote a song for Derrick last time '我的连续剧' (no wonder I find 易家扬 somewhere quite familiar). His works are 孙燕姿《遇见》《风筝》,“卧虎藏龙”主题曲《月光爱人》, 张惠妹 《狠角色》《记得》,　张信哲 《信仰》and many more.

Take a look at the new song "shou shen ji" (sang by joey rong ju er) written by Lin Xi. Nice song and very 'shi qing hua yi' lyrics as well. One of the new songs I kept listening nowsadays (despite my canto is not up to standard). haha!

As a chairperson of the concert, I would like to say thank you to Blue Angel and Kelvin Chen to support our event.
Despite the sour news that I have recerived from Ms. Iris Ng about media coverage, I would like to tell that student's feedback was very good, everybody enjoyed to show..and nobody should feel disappointed.
Most of the person said that Wei Lian is very friendly and enjoyed the song.
The committee felt so proud of being succesful to bring Wei Lian in!
I gladly announce that the fund raised is beyond our expectation: more than $9,000!
I am so happy we could purchase new equipment for the residences...The residences also liked Wei Lian and they even brought home some of our publicity materials (including close-up poster of Chen Wei Lian!)
I hope Wei Lian will like the flower from RCHN- NTU Chapter. It is a bouquet of Sunflower...

Thanks for your message and feedback. Quality definitely easily measured up the quantity.


As for the sake of charity, support equally shouldn't be compromised. I am sure as a performer Wei Lian did well in his fair bit, as well as the audience to be there to support a good cause. I personally enjoyed the show and I believe the rest as well. Even the people behind me were laughing along with some jokes that Wei Lian cracked - that shows the connection.

With quantiafiable sum (quoted from Theresia Mina), let's say the min: $9000/$50 = 180 people donated. As for the max: $9000/$10 = 900 people. Let's say it is ranging from 180-900 people. So in quantity terms speaking, the response is pretty good (whether did 100% donated watch finished the whole show as only during the 2 hours of show, donation box was then placed outside for people to donate).

Considered a close door event and within 1-2 week's of notice, I think the audience attendance are reasonable (FYI, auditorium can hold 1750 people). Quite a number of people came in around 2nd half of the show, and definitely the photo that the papers displayed gave the skewed idea that wasn't accurate. If it was shot at 7.05pm and 8.05pm, would that make a difference?


Also comments made by papers are pouring cold water unknowingly on the works that the rest of the student groups have put up, which I find quite disturbing. Is the papers suggesting that their friends didn't come to support them? Coz I am sure not all came to just support one person/one group, and I don't think Wei Lian is the only focus as well (that goes by proportion of time allocated to them for their performances and definitely Wei Lian's one wasn't the longest.)

Some the Red Cross Home people did brought back some posters of Wei Lian but I guess the papers didn't shot them. Does an empty house means no one is staying there? Have you look deeper about the things that are around in the house that showed nice memories, warmth and presence?

Anyway, kudos to those who performed and put their HEARTS into preparation, am deeply appreciated. :D

we didn't even know about this concert until very late in the day. I have not read the article yet but hope it did not paint a distorted view that it's a Wei Lian concert. duh, if it'w WL concert how can we not know until this late? So I say, Well done Blue Angels. And to all the performers.

Thank you for your posting. We're happy to be there last evening to support a good cause. You guys did a great job in putting up an excellent performance.

We should not be discouraged by the negative press report - we knew exactly what angle they chose to see things in their coverage. Instead of focusing on the good work of our students and those in need of help, they're wasting their readers' time and $$ to lap up gossips ala papparazi.

Let's not lose heart over such trivia. Focus on doing good and stay positive. Blue Angels will support all good causes and stay true to Wei Lian and support his efforts in charity work.

the paper are trying to attract readers.The headline already not truth,how can we trust such paper.
As for the NTU charity,i think if more publicity in papers, more people will attend.Unless they really cannot make it. From Theresia message the charity is a success. Great work for NTU team. Frankly speaking, this time round to organize for charity is not an

Sometimes don;t let what the papers report affect you. You have handled the questions thrown to you very well. You always take everything in your strike, with very positive outlook and veru down to earth. Your positive attitute in handling what come on is really something that we admire you for.

Yesterday, I received news from auntieiris about the negative news in that papers. Actually that paper always publish incorrect and twisted news, something not new to us. That's why now I don't buy anymore.

I just heard WL's 2nd new song. Its touching and nicely written. Actually I am very tired today after 2 days standing and queueing but after listen I cannot help myself but to listen few times before I want to go off to sleep.

WL really can sing even though throat was unwell. Reminds me of last year JB performance with Sin Huey. Voice still so clear and touching.

Thanks for sharing the same thought as me about the nice song wor. :) Is the new song for a 'wu xia' drama show? coz the title sounded like it is. haha! Ya, Joey is going to have her 1st Singapore concert next month (right?) and heard she's also going to sing some Canto songs. Wish the concert be best selling too! :)

Btw, I watched CSS and found that 'zou chu hei an de shi jie ba, peng you' is also not wei lian's version (in terms of bian qu). Sounded a little odd la. haha. Although Jarod's singing still hasn't left me to desire for more, I think his certain gesturlation help in bringing out the song essence. I still prefer Ai Jia's singing among them, like her slow song pretty much. Guo Mei Mei's live singing also got improvement. hehe. :)
